The tour:
Through the Food & Drinks Tour I'm hoping to introduce you to the places I think are of value to our city, hoping you will experience the locals’ favourites on your visit, that otherwise you could miss. I've designed this tour from the position of a local and a chef using my personal and professional experience to present these business.
This tour is a reflection of what I believe is good stuff, based on my personal and professional opinion. My experience in the hospitality industry showed me that flavour alone is not enough for a product to be good.
The spots I want to show you are businesses with purpose, started by people who love what they do and who are experts in their fields. I would go as far as saying they're changing the world. I chose the Covered Market area, because of the historical importance and because in just this small area you find soul, flavour, good atmosphere and lovely people with a lot of passion.
We'll sample and talk about the businesses I consider of high importance in our city and you'll get to taste the best of Oxford.
We meet every Wednesday from 10am to 1pm, but the tour will only take place if we have the whole group of 6 booked in.
The guide:
My name is Raoul Gheorghe and I'm the chef and founder of Dayums Nomadic. I have worked in hospitality back and front of the house for more than a decade and I have cooked for as long as I can remember. I have a good relationship with food and I admire good hosting. I'm fascinated with the cultural aspect of gastronomy and I enjoy studying it. I'm preoccupied with the future of food and the way we eat, and my work is a lot about that.
My ambition through this tour is to emphasise the importance of artisanal products and the passion of family run businesses.
